Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a quotation and a proforma invoice?

A quotation is an offer to supply at stated prices; it creates no obligation until accepted. A proforma invoice is a committed statement of what will be invoiced, used by the buyer to raise a purchase order or arrange payment or an import licence. Neither is a tax invoice, and neither should be used to claim input credit.

When do I use a delivery challan instead of an invoice?

When goods move without a sale: job work, goods sent on approval, stock transfer between your own locations, or supply of liquid gas where the quantity is not known at dispatch. The challan must carry the prescribed particulars and the goods must be accompanied by it.

How is the tax split decided?

By comparing your state with the place of supply. Same state gives CGST plus SGST at half the rate each; different states give IGST at the full rate. The tool derives this from the two state codes you enter so the split cannot be wrong by accident.

Can I put several tax rates on one document?

Yes. Each line carries its own rate, and the summary groups the taxable value and tax by rate, which is the format a GST return expects.

Is the vendor master shared with anyone?

It is private to your account: saved in this browser and synced to your account on the CRMTECH server, not shared with other users. Export it as JSON to hand it to a colleague.

Is Quotation & Purchase Order free?

Yes. Quotation & Purchase Order is free for everyone and needs no sign-up to use. An account is only needed to export, download or print, because every export is recorded.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Quotation & Purchase Order works inside your web browser, so the files you open are processed on your own device. If you sign in, the work you save (such as drafts and registers) is also kept in your account so it follows you to other devices.
