Frequently asked questions

Is the .pptx a real PowerPoint file?

Yes. It is generated with PptxGenJS, which writes the Office Open XML package that PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice all open natively. The text stays editable; it is not an image of a slide.

How does the outline syntax work?

A line beginning with # starts a new slide and becomes its title. Lines beginning with - become bullets. A line of the form key: value on a two-column or table slide fills the columns. Everything else becomes body text.

Why does the exported file look slightly different?

The browser preview uses web fonts and CSS; PowerPoint re-flows the text with its own layout engine and the fonts installed on that machine. Titles and bullets land in the same places, but line breaks can differ by a word.

Can I present directly from the browser?

Yes. Present mode goes fullscreen with arrow-key navigation, a slide counter and a black-screen key. It needs no internet, which makes it dependable in a meeting room with poor connectivity.

Can I add images?

Yes, per slide. They are read in the browser, embedded in the preview and written into the .pptx package, so the exported file is self-contained with no linked files.

Is Presentation Builder free?

Yes. Presentation Builder is free for everyone and needs no sign-up to use. An account is only needed to export, download or print, because every export is recorded.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Presentation Builder works inside your web browser, so the files you open are processed on your own device. If you sign in, the work you save (such as drafts and registers) is also kept in your account so it follows you to other devices.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.
